TiGr Lock – Unshackle Your Ride

Hi Daniel,
I saw your post about the TiGr Lock on Twitter. Thanks for your interest.

When that Stiftung Warentest piece was published we offered two width variations of the lock, 19mm and 32mm. Stiftung Warentest purchased both width variations; they only show the 19mm wide version in their piece.

Our own product testing, as well as independent 3rd party testing, indicates a big difference between the 19mm and 32mm variations with regard to bolt cutter attack. We try to be very clear about the differences in all product descriptions. I’m sorry to say that it seems we weren’t clear enough for the folks at Stiftung Warentest.

If you are interested, we publish some information on our lock testing process on our website: https://tigrlock.com/lock-testing/

As far as using the locks go, there can be a learning curve. Most of the people we hear from tell us they are very happy with the lock. It’s not for everyone though; so we try to make returns as easy as we can for folks.

After that SW piece came out we reached out to offer a full refund to every consumer in Germany who purchased a lock directly from us either via our website or our 2011 Kickstarter campaign; one person took us up on the offer. We issued a refund to Manufactum on all the locks they purchased from us; there weren’t many.

We love Germany and German people. We think that Stiftung Warentest piece would be more helpful for consumers if it included the 32mm variation of our lock and other locks.

Sincerely,
Jim
